Bridal Shower Activity – The Newlywed Game

Showering your bride but don’t want to forget about the groom?  For my friend Dianna’s shower (you can see all the shower photos here), I sat down with the groom, Adam, and asked him some simple questions about the bride!  We then showed the video at her bridal shower and had Dianna answer the questions before we showed his answers.  It turned out great.  It was so nice to incorporate the groom without him actually being there.  Plus, a few of his answers really surprised everyone and even made most of us tear up!  It was the sweetest 🙂

It really wasn’t too hard to do and you could really do it yourself!  Or better yet…hire me 🙂 haha

Here’s a few photos of the bride playing along with the DVD.

Lisa Hadley StudiosHere are the questions we asked the groom.  Wherever you see “the bride,” put in her name!  Feel free to change up the questions too!
1) When  you met, what was the first thing you noticed about the bride?
2) If you could be any superhero, what superhero would you be?
3) If your bride could only bring one item on your honeymoon, what would she bring?
4) If you were to cook one dinner for your bride, what dish would you prepare?
5) How many children does the bride want?
6) What are your pet names for each other?
7) What would the bride say is your most annoying habit?
8) What would you say is the bride’s most annoying habit?
9) If the bride could get rid of one item from your closet, what would it be?
10) What sound of impersonation do you do best?
11) How many times did you and the bride date before you had your first kiss?
12) What movie star do you think you are most like?
13) Who wears the pants in the relationship?
14) What game or sport does the bride think she’s better at than you?
15) Who is the better driver between the two of you?
16) Who is the better kisser between the two of you?
17) Who will your future children go to when they want something?
18) When was the first moment you realized that you loved each other?

And here’s the video 🙂

  2. Hello! I absolutely love this idea and will quickly try to put this together for my best friend’s bridal shower this weekend! Quick question: how did you format the game, did you have her answer the question and then play back the answer from the groom or have her answer all of the questions then watch the whole video?! Any extra tips would be great, thank you!

    • Hi Kelly! I played the question on the screen then paused it to give the bride enough time to think of her answer. Plus there was often some discussion amongst the other ladies. Then once she was ready, I just hit play! Make sure you give yourself about 5-10 seconds between clips so there’s time to hit the pause button. I think it’s a little better this way (as opposed to answering all questions at once). It adds some humor when the bride says “I wear the pants in the relationship” and then immediately you hear the groom say he wears the pants… 😛 Let me know if you have any other questions! I can’t think of any specific tips. Have fun with it!

  4. Hi! Quick question – I am throwing my first bridal shower and was wondering if, for example, for question #2 the bride is guessing the groom’s answer (favorite superhero), or if she is answering for herself.

    Thanks!

    • Hi Brianna! You can really do it either way. As long as you ask the questions the same way for both, so you can compare their answers. In this case, the groom gave his answer for what superhero he would like to be, and the bride answered what she thought the groom would want to be. Hope that helps!

  5. I have done this for many bridal showers in the past but I love your cute video! How would I go about getting the song that you used for yours??

  7. Hi there, just wondering if you had this as a participation game at all? Or this was just mainly for entertainment? I’m trying to somehow incorporate this as a “game” for people to answer things a long with the bride and groom and count up their right answers. Did you do this? And if you did what do you think would be the best way to set it up?

    Thank you!

    • Hi Kendall! It was both participation and entertainment! We played it in front of everyone and let people answer along, but really it was mostly for the bride to answer. We didn’t keep score or anything. Plus I think most questions would be hard for guests to know without it being multiple choice. You can do it either way!

  8. This is so awesome! Thanks for posting the entire video. Definitely going to use this for my sister-in-laws shower in two weeks!!
